NDII-INI PRIMARY SCHOOL
Located in Kahawa Sukari, Kenya, the Ndii-ini School has 1,445 total students across early childhood development, primary, and secondary school programs. In Kenya, many of the costs associated with attending school, such as uniforms, meals, textbooks and other supplies are the responsibility of the students’ families. These costs can be so high that some children are not able to attend school, or some families must choose which children stay in school and which do not.
Until our program was retired in 2015, KIDS helped to provide school uniforms, textbooks, pencils, notebooks, and dictionaries for over 500 students. We helped renovate storage facilities and supplied pots for the school kitchen, as well as repairing the water tank that supplies the school.
Between 2014 - 2015, KIDS also provided materials to maintain the school’s water harvesting project, which supplies a sustainable source of water for the students and staff. Part of this project also includes a feeding program to provide nutritious food for the students.
Through the projects that KIDS supported with the Ndii-ini Primary School, we worked towards fulfilling several of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals: #2 No Hunger, #4 Quality Education, and #6 Clean Water and Sanitation.
