Ndiani Primary School: Located in Kahawa, Ndiani Primary School supports 568 students ages 4-20.  This school was started in 1957 under Mama Mania and has been taken over by the Government in 1962.  Needs; building a library block and equipping it, sustaining school feeding program, and providing materials necessary to begin a nursery tree project in order to sell the seedlings to acquire additional funds.

 

 

Mama Tunza Children’s Centre: Located in Kibiko, Ngong Tunza Children’s Centre supports 105 children ages 3-17.  The founder Diminal Khasiala established this orphanage in 1998 after picking up a 3 months old baby on a compost pit at midnight.  They were originally based in Kibera (Africa’s largest slum) and have now shifted to their new premises in Ngong.  Needs; Borehole, Hospital/Clinic, Polytechnic, computers and school tailoring.  Also, materials such as dairy cows, goats, and poultry to develop income.

 

Kieni Fighters of HIV/AIDS: Started in 2007 by individuals living with HIV/AIDS, Kieni works towards saving the lives of individuals living with HIV/AIDS and fighting the stigma and discrimination they face.  Needs; Purchase land to construct permanent offices to assist those who are bed ridden.  This center would consist of: a comprehensive care unit, an out patient clinic, a rescue center, a training hall, and a feeding program.  There is also a great need for home care kits which usually consist of; Jim/Salvo/Beta dine, Vaseline Jelly, Talcum powder, disposable polythene bags, bar soap, bandages, gloves, tissue papers, razor blades, antiseptic soap, condoms, pain killers, ORS, Cotton Wool, Blood pressure machine, and thermometer.

 

Ngong Hospital: The Ngong District Hospital was upgraded in 2007 from a health center, which was start in the early 1950s.  This hospital is located in Ngong, which has a high population density and is rapidly growing.  The hospital has a busy out patient department and also maternity wards for females and children.  Needs; construction of additional wards, mortuary store, theatre and emergency center with an x-ray department.  Purchase of a utility vehicle, dental equipment, medical supplies, and computers.

 

Giwa Farm Resettlement, Rongai - Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camp: After the post election violence in 2007, IDP's moved to Nakuru showgrounds.  In September 2008, families that came from Molo, Eldoret, and Kericho were given land by the government and settled in GIL GIL IDP Camp. In November 2009, the government provided land for the GIL GIL camp in Rongai.  2 ½ acres were given per family for a house and shamba.   Land was also given for amenities such as school (the first phase is being built), health centre and shopping centre. Majority of the people are Kikuyu.  The community is split into 2 communities, upper and lower Shalom. Needs; Desks, chairs, pens, pencils, chalkboard, chalk, books and charts to assist the Community School. The existing building that is used for the school needs to be restored in terms of windows, painting of walls and doors. Since many family members do not have occupation, there is a need to establish income generating activities such as farming, basket or bead making, chicken coops, etc.
